From Humble Roots and Homemade Wine, Ramazzotti Handcrafts Artisan Wines in Traditional Old-World Style

Joe and Norma Ramazzotti had been making and sharing their legendary homemade wines for years. But their fans didn't know quite what hit them when the Ramazzottis went all-in, opening their own full-fledged winery in 2002.

After nearly 30 years managing and farming others' vineyards in the Dry Creek and Alexander Valley regions, Joe and Norma capitalized on their experience and Joe's heritage to fulfill a dream. Born Giuseppe Ramazzotti, Joe emigrated with his parents to the Dry Creek Valley to help his recently widowed aunt with her farm. Joe was just eight years old, but those years on the farm provided the inspiration for Joe's talent and passion for cultivating grapes.

The Ramazzottis for years managed and farmed others' vineyards while handcrafting small batches of their own wines. Sharing these wines with friends and family, the Ramazzottis soon cultivated a near cult-following. The two decided to "go pro."

Joe and Norma Ramazzotti turned the lovers of their home-produced wines to fans of their commercially produced artisan wines.

Joe and Norma are true partners, as soul mates and as quintessential small-winery business owners. While Joe manages from the 30,000 foot view, managing the vineyards and the winemaking, Norma keeps everything running smoothly. A certified examiner of MOG (material other than grapes), Norma's attention to detail -- matched by her husband's -- provides excellent insight to why the Ramazzottis create such carefully crafted, exquisite artisan wines.

Selecting only perfect clusters and berries from their own vineyards and others from which they source their grapes, the Ramazottis ensure the fruit character and terroir represents in every glass. And Joe's Old World roots reflect in the Ramazzotti's traditional -- but uniquely Ramazzotti -- red blends. From their Regale Bordeaux-style to their Raffinto Super Tuscan style, these humble farmers and producers of singularly unique artisan wines consistently offer glass after glass of joy-inducing liquid elixir.
