Gracianna Winery takes its name from the Amador family's maternal matriarch, Gracianna Lasaga, a shepherd's wife and active member of the French Underground who emigrated to the United States after World War II. A French Basque, Gracianna was well appreciated for her hosting of simple, gracious gatherings.
With a nod to their great grandparents' hard work and humility, siblings Trini and Ashley Amador take seriously the care and devotion that goes into crafting a brilliant bottle of wine.
Winemaker José Trinidad (Trini) Amador, IV starts with a solid idea of what he wants pouring from the bottle as his final product, then works diligently to achieve that vision. He is singularly focused on achieving expressive, bold, spicy Zins and Pinots that remind the wine lover of a "silky breeze" with their smooth finish and fruit-forward flavor.
But whether it's a breezy Pinot Noir, a spicy Zin or one of their velvety Chardonnays, the Amador sibs emphasize that Gracianna wines are meant for those who have something about which to be grateful. They're for people who, like their great grandmother, enjoy hosting friends with simplicity, grace and gratitude.
