A Couple's Dream Comes True in Artisan Pinot Noirs that Evoke Old-World Burgundy
Deux Fen Estates is Chris and Gilian Fenner's brainchild, the product of a wee bit more than a little passion for wine, in particular Pinot Noir, and the desire to leave a tangible legacy for their daughter, Bella.
Deux Fen Estates produced their first vintage in 2006 with 75 cases of Pinot Noir and 25 cases of Pinot Gris. Singularly focused on producing Pinot Noir in the traditional Burgundian style, in 2008 Deux Fen Estates started working with Winemaker Jacques Tardy who hails from Nuits Saint Georges, in Burgundy, France.
Jacques grew up in a family marked by five generations of French vineyard management or winemaking experience and earned a degree in Viticulture and Enology from the Agricole and Viticole of Beaune. He has been making wine since 1976. His winemaking travels brought him to Oregon where he has been making Oregon Pinot Noir since 1990, earning many awards of distinction along the way. Although Jacques makes Oregon Pinot Noir in many styles, his signature style is pure Burgundian.
Deux Fen Estates leaves their wines unfined and unfiltered, in the firm belief that those practices remove flavor and character. As a result, their wines might be slightly hazy or you might stumble across a wine diamond. Lucky you!
